What to expect when working with BLUEPRINT DESIGN CO.
The Design Process
Your Vision
We start each project with an in-depth meeting to explore all your ideas, wants, and needs for your home. During this meeting, bring all your inspirations - whether big or small - along with any thoughts, likes, dislikes, and Pinterest boards. We'll discuss everything in detail, allowing me to understand your vision and ask questions about your site and how you plan to use your home's spaces. This time also provides an opportunity to consider any additional ideas or aspects that may enhance your design.
Concept Design
After our initial discussion, I'll begin creating the preliminary (concept) layouts. To streamline the process, I'll send you the preliminary layouts, including floor plans and front elevations. These plans can be reviewed over the phone or in person. During the stage, we will also verify local zoning requirements, building codes, property restrictions, and any other potential limitations.
Design Development
Once you approve the concept design, I'll add the details that will transform your house into a home. During this stage, I'll seek additional input from you and identify any areas that may require engineering. It's crucial to provide as much feedback as possible, as these documents are preliminary construction documents. I believe a picture is worth a thousand words, so I offer 3D visuals as part of the process. If there are specific areas you'd like to see in 3D, I'm happy to provide them. My goal is to ensure you have a clear vision of how your home will look before construction begins.
Construction Documents
After finalizing the design details, I'll create the construction documents. At this stage, I'll ensure that all the fine-tuned details are accurately reflected. Additional details, such as cut-through sections, construction notes, and other relevant information, will be added. If you require any additional services, they can be incorporated at this stage as well. These construction documents will be what you or the builder use to obtain permits and start construction.
I'm with you every step of the way!
My involvement doesn't end once you have your permit. I'm available throughout the build to answer any questions you, your builder, or the subcontractors may have. I also make site visits during key stages, such as framing and cabinetry installation, to ensure that all the details are executed as planned. My goal is to make sure that nothing is overlooked, so your vision is reality down to the last detail!
